Katie Hodson, a recent graduate of University of Worcester, has undertaken a residency offered by Office for Art, Design and Technology through the New Art West Midlands Special Opportunity Awards.

Throughout the residency Katie will be developing a new and ambitious body of work which expands upon and continues her sculptural practice and interests in modernist built environments. She will continue using concrete and foam and will build upon her exploration of urban support structures, as she has in her recent works, but will additionally focus on developing her knowledge of casting techniques and will be directly responding to the buildings, plazas and public spaces of Coventry.
This residency will be dual sited between Office for Art, Design and Technology in Coventry and Katie’s own space, the recently founded BLOK Studio in Worcester which will allow for maximum flexibility at a time when young, emerging artists are under increasing pressures.
Alongside the chance to develop ambitious new work, Katie will have the opportunity to join our Professional Development Cohort for the duration of her residency, meaning that she will receive mentoring, peer-to-peer feedback, the chance to participate in shorter, group residencies and trips.
